Mystery Fish answer!

Okay, the guy from the DNR tells me that this is a skipjack herring. This is nothing like the fish I was told was a skipjack when I was growing up.  Apparently this is a protected species and is rarely seen since the installation of the lock and dam system on the Mississippi.
